HOMEHQ
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 25 May 2026 · Effective: 25 May 2026
HomeHQ is a personal home-records app built for Singapore homeowners. This page explains, in plain English, what data the app touches and where that data lives.
The short version
- Every defect, photo, paint code, warranty, and home note you create stays in your own browser's local storage on your own device.
- Nothing is sent to a HomeHQ server. There is no HomeHQ server that holds your records.
- HomeHQ has no accounts, no sign-in, and no advertising. It uses one privacy-first analytics tool — Plausible — which is cookieless and collects no personal data (see "Third-party services" below).
- Apart from anonymous, aggregate usage analytics, the only time your records leave your device is when you choose to: share a defect report to WhatsApp, download a PDF, copy text, or email feedback.
What data the app stores
Inside your browser's localStorage, the app keeps:
- Defect records you create (title, description, status, severity, room, dates).
- Photos you attach to defects, compressed and stored as data URLs in localStorage.
- Your home profile (property type, address you typed in, move-in date, paint codes, appliance models, etc.).
- Warranty records and service history you add.
- A flag indicating whether you have completed onboarding, and whether you are exploring sample data.
The app never reads any other site's data, browser history, contacts, or files.
What we do NOT collect
- We do not collect names, addresses, phone numbers, or email addresses unless you voluntarily type them into the optional contact field on the feedback form or the contractor-interest form.
- We do not collect device identifiers, advertising IDs, location, or contacts.
- We do not use advertising trackers, cross-site tracking, cookies, or analytics that collect personal data. Our analytics (Plausible) records only anonymous, aggregate usage — see "Third-party services."
When data leaves your device
Only when you choose to use one of the share actions:
- Share to WhatsApp — opens WhatsApp on your device with the defect text pre-filled. You pick the recipient. The recipient receives whatever you send. HomeHQ does not see this conversation.
- Download PDF — generates a PDF entirely in your browser and saves it to your device's Downloads folder. Nothing is uploaded.
- Download backup (JSON) — exports your records as a JSON file on your device.
- Send feedback — opens your email client with a pre-filled message to feedback@home-hq.sg. The diagnostics block contains only your browser version, viewport, record counts, and storage size — no names, addresses, photos, or receipt contents.
- Contractor / Inspector interest form — if you fill it in and submit, the form data goes to feedback@home-hq.sg so we can follow up.
Cookies and similar technologies
HomeHQ does not use cookies. It uses your browser's localStorage, which is a key-value store specific to home-hq.sg and only readable by HomeHQ pages on this domain. It is not shared with any other site.
Children
HomeHQ is intended for adult homeowners and landlords. It is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Data retention
Your records stay on your device until you clear your browser data, uninstall the app, or use the in-app "Start fresh" or "Remove" actions. We have no copies on any server we control.
Your rights
Because we never receive a copy of your records, all data control lives with you on your device:
- Access: the app shows everything you have stored.
- Export: More → Download backup (JSON) exports a portable copy.
- Delete: Remove each record from the relevant screen, or use "Start fresh" on the dashboard to wipe everything for this device.
Third-party services
The site is hosted on Netlify. Netlify processes HTTP request logs (IP address, user-agent, requested path) for security and reliability, in line with Netlify's privacy policy. HomeHQ itself does not record, store, or analyse those logs.
HomeHQ uses Plausible Analytics to understand, in aggregate, how the app is used — for example how many people open it, complete onboarding, add a defect, or export a report. Plausible is privacy-first: it uses no cookies, assigns no persistent identifier, and collects no personal data. The events HomeHQ sends contain only event names and non-personal properties such as counts and category labels — never your defect text, names, addresses, photos, or receipts. Plausible's own handling of data is described in its data policy.
When you tap "Share to WhatsApp," your device opens WhatsApp (operated by Meta). What you choose to send there is governed by WhatsApp's privacy policy.
Security
The app is served over HTTPS. Records stored in localStorage are only accessible to JavaScript running on home-hq.sg. We recommend not entering bank account numbers, full national IDs, or other very-sensitive data into any defect record or notes — those have no business being in a defect tracker.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we update the "Last updated" date at the top. Material changes will also be announced inside the app.
